Clinical Risk Manager- Cocoa Beach


To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by providing oversight for the internal Risk Management Program.

Primary Accountabilities
Development and implementation of an incident reporting system based upon the affirmative duty of all health care providers and all agents and associates of the health care facility to report injuries and adverse incidents to the risk manager. Develop innovative approaches intended to reduce the frequency and severity of medical malpractice and patient injury claims.
Regular and systematic review of all incident reports to identify trends as to time, place or person and design preventive measures. Accomplish risk identification through review of medical staff peer review issues, patient/family grievances, committee minutes, third party reports, attorney requests for medical records and administrative or associate referrals.
Development of appropriate measures to minimize the risk of injuries and adverse incidents to patients, including at least annual risk management and risk prevention education and trainingthrough the cooperative efforts of all personnel. Also, initial in-services of all new associates.
Facilitates the on-site visits by Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) personnel including the coordination of information collection, interviews, the exit conference and any action plan that may be subsequently required
Analysis of patient grievances which relate to patient care and the quality of medical services. Oversee hospital's Grievance Policy with review of all patient grievances, and appropriate follow- up. Report summary of grievances to Board and other interested parties.
Assure that special category incident reporting; e.g. Code 15 reports are submitted to the Agency for Health Care Administration within 15 days of the occurrence or respectively, in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 59-A10 and State Statute 395.0197. Also prepares and submits annual report of incidents causing injury to patients to AHCA.
Responsible for identifying and reporting cases of liability into the claims module and for collaborating with Corporate Claims on events that are identified as potential or have become actual claims.
Ensure compliance with applicable guidelines and standards of The Joint Commission (TJC), Florida Statutes and other regulatory agencies as they relate to health care risk management.
Provide feedback of information to managers at all levels in the effort to eliminate risks.
Prepare, or cause to be prepared, monthly or quarterly reports to reflect the frequency and severity of categories of incidents to patients, employees and the general public. Provide analysis of the reported data, and where appropriate, develop recommendations to prevent or reduce frequency or severity.
Coordinates receiving of subpoenas and assists employees in complying with subpoenas.
Oversees the management of complaints and grievances in a manner that expresses concern and caring for those who were provided services that did not meet their expectations
Acts as the 504/ADA coordinator to assure implementation of services designed to provide equal access to our healthcare services for those who are sensory impaired or physically disabled (unless 504 coordinator designated to another individual within the facility)
Serves as a resource for our medical, nursing, and allied health staff for compliance with regulatory requirements and in the area of risk reduction and elimination

Qualifications

Registered Nurse Licensed in the State of Florida with at least 5 years Clinical experience
Baccalaureate degree preferred
Five (5) to ten (10) years' experience in Healthcare Risk Management
Licensed Health Care Risk Manager, State of Florida; knowledge of tort law and statutes pertaining to Health Care, both federal and state
Able to maintain good working relationships with patients and families, community agencies, various Federal, State, Local and Regulatory Agencies, e.g.:
AHCA, TJC
Excellent organizational skills required
Ability to handle high stress areas
Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrates the ability to relate well with all customers
Computer experience required
Ability to maintain confidentially in all areasEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
